The Chief Of Transformation and Innovation (Army), Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation Maj Gen OS Abai has advised Armed Forces to avoid using drugs without doctors prescription and directions.
He gave the advise in his remarks as the Special Guest of honour at the
"Army Headquarters, Directorate of Army Training Awareness Lecture On Warriors Ethos PTSD And Drugs/Substance Abuse" held at Multipurpose Hall, Nigerian Military School, Chindit Cantonment Zaria.
General Abai was represented by the Director, Lessons Learnt, AHQ department Army Transformation and Innovation, Maj Gen MD Danja said it is not proper for any member of the Armed Forces to engaged himself as drug addiction.
According to him, inline with this transformative agenda the Nigerian Army engaged key stakeholders such as NDLEA and Medical experts to sensitized and enlighten their personnel on the danger of taking drugs without proper administration.
The Chief of Transformative and Innovation said, this kind of Lecture will be a continued event all over the Military formations.
He urged the participants to extend to others what they learn from the Lectures delivered by the resource persons on the dangers of associating with illicit drugs.
In his welcome address the Commandant Nigerian Military School Zaria, Brig General ON Egija said the Army Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation Seminar with the central theme “From Trauma to Triumph, Building Combat Ready Warriors in the Nigerian Army”.
Gen. Egija added that this event is aimed at consolidating the efforts of the NA towards ensuring the moral component of the Army’s fighting force is equally as developed as the physical and conceptual components.
He said, Nigerian Army has continued to make deliberate efforts at ensuring the combat readiness of its officers and soldiers for optimal performance in the fluid and dynamic contemporary operating environments that is the essence of this important Seminar.
The Commandant enjoined all participants to attune themselves to this seminar to ensure its overarching objectives of creating ready, able and willing fighting manpower for the Nigerian Army are achieved
In his paper presentation as the Guest Lecturer Major General C. Ofoche rtd said, the Warrior Ethos encapsulates the core principles of determination, resilience, selflessness, relentless motivation, unwavering vigilance, and the readiness to sacrifice one's life for the nation.
As expressed by Billy Graham, “When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. But when character is lost, all is lost.”
Accordingly, the armed forces cease to embody the essence of a warrior once their character has been compromised.
The concept of the Warrior Ethos transcends mere male aggression or the pursuit of dominance; it is fundamentally embedded within societal structure.
This ethos is upheld by the unwavering commitment of mothers, wives, daughters, and others who endeavor to safeguard their heritage, homeland, and cultural values.
To fully embrace the Warrior Ethos, it is essential to thoughtfully consider these elements as interconnected components of a larger societal framework.
I will end with these thoughts: “The greatest weapon in War is the people's collective Will - the Fighting Will and not just Platforms.” No victory comes without sacrifice; we must overcome fear because if we quit, evil wins…. Always project Strength.
