UBA WIN PROJECT TAKES EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO ROMI COMMUNITY
In its continued effort to promote education and grassroots development, the leadership of the UBA WIN PROJECT, under the able leadership of its Director General and Convener, Hon. Mukhtar Zubairu, paid a working visit to Romi Community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
During the visit, the team distributed 1,000 exercise books to Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) students of Government Junior Secondary School, Romi, as part of its educational support initiative aimed at encouraging learning and academic excellence among young learners.
Accompanying the Director General on the visit were Hon. Samson, the Deputy Director General (Kaduna Central); Hon. Faisal, the Director of Sports; alongside other dedicated members of the UBA WIN Project leadership team.
Following the book distribution, the delegation held a stakeholders’ engagement meeting with community leaders to share updates on the developmental projects and people-focused policies of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State
.
The UBA WIN team was warmly received by Commander Yakubu Ali, the Chairman of Romi Community, alongside the APC Romi Ward Chairman, representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Romi Chapter, and other notable dignitaries.
The interactive session provided a platform for community members to appreciate the Governor’s commitment to education, empowerment, and infrastructure development across Kaduna State.
His Excellency Senator Uba Sani’s Milestones in the Education Sector
As highlighted during the visit, Governor Uba Sani’s administration has made remarkable strides in strengthening education and human capital development across the state. Some notable achievements include:
• Construction of over 600 classrooms across various Local Governments to expand access to quality education.
• Establishment of 62 new secondary schools under the World Bank-supported AGILE project.
• Rehabilitation and equipping of six science secondary schools through Islamic Development Bank funding, boosting STEM education for Kaduna youths.
• Distribution of learning materials, textbooks, uniforms, and furniture to basic schools to enhance teaching and learning conditions.
• Reduction of tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions such as Kaduna State University, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, and College of Education Gidan Waya—making higher education more affordable for students.
• Launch of the “Out-of-School Children Reintegration Programme”, a major step toward bringing vulnerable children back into classrooms.
• Establishment of Vocational and Technology Skills Centres across the three senatorial zones to promote youth empowerment and self-reliance.
The UBA WIN PROJECT continues to align with these transformative goals by complementing the Governor’s efforts at the grassroots level. The Romi outreach is a reflection of the group’s commitment to education, community partnership, and youth empowerment, ensuring that no community is left behind in the journey towards a more prosperous and inclusive Kaduna State.
