The Emir of Zazzau Deposes Village Head Over Unauthorized Title Conferment

The Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has deposed the Village Head of Hayin Dogo Samaru, Malam Shehu Musa, for allegedly conferring a traditional title without the knowledge or approval of the Zazzau Emirate Council.
According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Zazzau Emirate Council, Malam Kwarbai, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the village head was removed from his position for bestowing the title of Sardaunan Hayin Dogo on Usman Baba Abubakar without notifying or obtaining approval from the Emirate Council.
The council said this act took place at the same time when the Emir of Zazzau was officially conferring the title of Sardaunan Zazzau on former Vice President Alhaji Namadi Sambo, describing the village head's action as a blatant act of insubordination and disrespect to the authority of the emirate.
As a result, the Zazzau Emirate Council, under the directive of the Emir, deposed both the village head and the individual he appointed as Sardaunan Hayin Dogo.
The statement also issued a stern warning to Usman Baba Abubakar, the man who was given the title, cautioning him never to associate himself with the title, as the Zazzau Emirate does not recognize or approve of him.
Furthermore, the council warned all traditional rulers and title holders within the emirate to refrain from conferring any titles without the knowledge and consent of the Emirate Council, stressing that anyone who violates this order will face severe consequences.
Hausa Media Reporters reached out to the deposed village head, Malam Shehu Musa, for comment. He stated:
"am not aware of any official notice regarding my removal. I only saw it on social media, but I have not received any letter from His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli. Therefore, I have no comment at this time.”
