Tiamin Pledges Jobs, CSR Projects As Set To Launch 50,000-Hectare Rice Project In Toro

Tiamin Rice Processing Company, one of Nigeria's leading rice producers, said it is awaiting a directive from the federal government to commence agricultural activities, mainly rice cultivation on the 50,000 hectares of land allocated to it in Toro local government area of Bauchi State under the NASENI's Irrigate Nigeria Project.
The project, being executed through a public-private partnership (PPP), involves 50,000 hectares of farmland allocated to the company by the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
Speaking during a Toro stakeholders' familiarization visit to the Company headquarters in Bauchi yesterday, the Group Managing Director of Tiamin Rice Company Limited, Alhaji Aminu Ahmed, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for providing land for the company's rice cultivation efforts.
Represented by Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa, Aminu noted, "His Excellency, the Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, out of his visionary leadership invited us to Bauchi not only to set up rice processing plant, but also to set up a farm from which we would produce the rice that we will mill on the company".
"As a result of this, the federal government saw our initiative in collaboration with the government of Bauchi state, and decided to partner with the state. This partnership was launched at our 10, 000 hectares rice cultivation site in Udubo of Gamawa LGA of Bauchi state in March this year under the Irrigate Nigeria Project of the Federal Government," he noted.
Receiving the delegation, the General Manager of Tiamin Rice, Alhaji Abubakar Bala Giade, reaffirmed the company's commitment to producing high-quality rice that meets international standards while promoting community welfare through robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
"Tiamin Rice is built on a foundation of quality, innovation, and community service. Our goal is not just to feed the nation with premium rice but also to empower local communities through job creation, infrastructure development, and social investment," Giade said.
He emphasised that Tiamin Rice remained dedicated to ensuring host communities benefit directly from its presence, pledging greater focus on education, healthcare, and local infrastructure as part of its CSR strategy.
"As we expand into Toro LGA, we see an opportunity to strengthen our impact through sustainable partnerships. We are also exploring avenues for youth and women empowerment through agricultural training, entrepreneurship, and skill acquisition to reduce unemployment and boost local productivity," he added.
Earlier speaking on behalf of the Toro community, Executive Chairman of Toro Local Government Area, Pharmacist Ibrahim Abubakar Dembo,
said that they were at the meeting to have first-hand information on how the company operate and the kind of equipment to be deployed to Toro LGA for the project.
Pharmacist Abubakar said that as a host community, they would require social services such as the construction of school, hospital and as Fulani community request for the dredging of a dam that could provide drinking water for their animals.
Dembo who also asked for access road to help the community socialize and provide transport, assured the company of the community's cooperation, understanding and necessary support in running it's activities.
He commended Tiamin Rice for its track record in quality production and social investment, assuring the company of the council’s full cooperation.
"We are ready to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of this partnership. The people of Toro are peaceful and welcoming, and we guarantee you full security and cooperation as you consider setting up a semi-processing facility in our area," Dembo said.
Dembo also praised Governor Bala Mohammed for his inclusive development agenda, which he said has continued to attract major investors and open opportunities across all sectors.
The meeting was attended by the Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, the District Head of Lame, Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, security chiefs, religious and community leaders, and other key stakeholders from Toro Local Government Area.
