The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has been ranked overall best among 18 selected tertiary hospitals in the utilisation of the District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2).
DHIS2, deployed by FHI360, is a web-based Health Management Information System used in more than 70 countries and serving over 40 percent of the global population. The platform supports efficient data collection, management, analysis, visualisation, offline entry, and integration with other digital health systems.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Unit of ATBUTH, Usman Abdullahi Koli, reaffirmed the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery and institutional performance.
"The hospital's outstanding ranking reflects its strict adherence to data quality standards, reporting accuracy, strong data management systems, and effective use of analytic tools. This milestone underscores ATBUTH dedication to evidence-based planning, accountability, and improved service delivery," Koli said.
In a related development, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has recognised ATBUTH Bauchi as the Best Organisation in Human Resources and Development for 2024 within the Bauchi Area Office.
Koli noted that the award further affirms the hospital's commitment to staff capacity building, institutional growth, and continuous professional development.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, expressed deep appreciation to the ICT Unit, Health Information Management Department, and all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the recognition.
He emphasised that the achievements align with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare's agenda of strengthening digital health systems and enhancing workforce development nationwide.
The CMD also reiterated management's determination to sustain excellence and deepen digital innovation for improved patient outcomes.
"The Management of ATBUTH Bauchi commends the Federal Government, FHI360, the Industrial Training Fund, and all partners for their support in advancing Nigeria’s healthcare and human resource development landscape," the statement concluded.
