The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kaduna State branch, burned about 52 tons of various drugs seized from different parts of the state. The operation took place on Thursday at Kufena, Zaria, near Birnin Gwari Road.
Kaduna NDLEA Commander, Mohammed Tukur, stated that burning the drugs demonstrates skill, honesty, and adherence to the law in the agency’s work. He said the items destroyed came from covert operations carried out in collaboration with the military, police, customs, and other security agencies.
Tukur thanked NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), for leadership that strengthens the agency nationwide and praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for the support given to the agency.
On behalf of Marwa, Deputy Commander General, Sulaiman Ningi, reiterated the agency’s resolve to prevent drugs from returning to society and commended the Kaduna branch for their competence. The state government also provided two vehicles and land to build new NDLEA offices and camps.
During the event, parents, schools, and the public were called upon to participate in the fight against drug abuse under the Anti-Drug Campaign (WADA).
Special Adviser on Drug Matters in the state, Umar Bambale, stated that the government will continue integrating drug control with security, education, community welfare, and health policies. He also urged traditional rulers, parents, and community leaders to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use.
The event was attended by senior security officials, government representatives, traditional rulers, and community leaders, who pledged continued cooperation to ensure a drug-free Kaduna State. Among notable attendees was the representative of the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, also known as Alhaji Umaru Muhammad, Fagacin Zazzau.
Many members of the public praised the agency for the way the operation was carried out.
The event concluded safely.
