DG NILEST Hosts Speaker Abbas, Minister of Environment, others for Ground-Breaking of Male and Female Hostels, Scholarship Launch

The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, has hosted the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, and other dignitaries for the launching of a fully funded scholarship scheme for 250 students and the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of male and female hostels in the Institute.

Speaking during the event in Zaria, Speaker Abbas stressed that education remains the foundation of his success in life. He urged the newly admitted students who will undertake two-year academic programmes, including Diploma, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses at NILEST, to be serious with their studies and remain focused in order to make themselves and the nation proud.

The Speaker also personally presented admission letters to some of the beneficiaries and officially laid the foundation stone for the construction of the hostels in the Institute.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included the Honorable Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas; Hon. Garba Datti Babawo, APC Vice Chairman North-West; the Council Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad; representatives of the Council Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker (Admin), Malam Iliyasu Balarabe; APC party leaders; traditional and community leaders, among others.

In his remarks, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NILEST, Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, expressed deep appreciation to the Speaker for facilitating the execution of two landmark projects — the construction of the male and female hostels and the award of full scholarships to 250 students to study Diploma, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes at the Institute.

He noted that the beneficiaries were drawn from the eight local government areas of Kaduna North Senatorial District of Kaduna State.

"The history of NILEST will not be complete without your name,Sir. We pray to Almighty Allah to bless you with good health, wisdom and strength in the discharge of your responsibilities," Dr. Imam stated.
