Sabon Gari Local Government Delegation Visits Graceland Community on a Sympathy Mission

The leadership of Sabon Gari Local Government Area in Kaduna State has visited the Graceland community to discuss prevailing security challenges and to commiserate with residents over recent attacks.

The Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Kamilu Abdulkareem, who represented the Chairman, Sheikh Jamil Abubakar Albani, led a strong delegation of the local government administration to Graceland, Hanwa, to sympathize with the residents over the increasing cases of theft, rape, and other crimes currently affecting the area.

During the visit, Hon. Abdulkareem assured the community that the local government is fully committed to restoring peace and security in the area, based on reports received from security agencies.

He stated that the government is working hand in hand with community leaders, security operatives, and youth organizations through awareness and collaboration programs aimed at promoting peace and unity among the people.

"Security is everyone’s responsibility. Therefore, we urge residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity. With cooperation, we will overcome these challenges and build a peaceful and united community,” said Hon. Abdulkareem.

According to him, the visit is part of ongoing efforts by the local government to ensure peace and progress in Sabon Gari, so that everyone can live, work, and carry out their activities in a safe and stable environment.

Among those who delivered goodwill messages were the Head of Yusi Graceland community, Malam Muhammad Abdullahi, and Professor Eze.

Also, a woman directly affected by the recent attacks, Sister Ladi, gave an emotional testimony that moved many attendees to tears, describing the humiliation and suffering inflicted by criminals, including incidents of rape and robbery.

In his remarks, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) overseeing the area gave valuable advice and called for stronger cooperation between security personnel and the local government leadership to address the ongoing security challenges.

Hon. Kamilu expressed appreciation to the residents for warmly receiving the delegation and for their understanding and cooperation.

Investigations revealed that on October 15, 2025, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansur Hassan, presented some suspects arrested in connection with the recent criminal acts in Graceland.

Among them were Usman Aminu (21) from Kano, Sadik Idris (21), Hajara (20), and Fatima (18) — all currently under police custody.

Reports confirmed that several victims are still receiving medical treatment at the hospital following the recent attacks by hoodlums in the Graceland community.

As a result, residents have called on the Sabon Gari Local Government leadership, public office holders, traders, and youths to unite in finding a lasting solution to this growing threat.
