FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE ZARIA AREA COMMAND POSITIONS TO ENFORCE FIRE LAWS THROUGH FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BUILDINGS
In line with the vision of the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, FCNA, ACTI, who initiated the nationwide enforcement of fire safety compliance through periodic risk assessments, the Federal Fire Service, Zaria Area Command, has commenced steps to key into this directive.
As part of the implementation, the Command has scheduled massive fire inspection visits to both private and public buildings in Zone One of Kaduna State, aimed at ensuring strict compliance with the Fire Safety Code.
During an inspection of Loryd and DP Ventures Ltd at Jedediah Place, Graceland, Zaria, the Head of Inspectorate, Investigation and Enforcement (IIE Dept), ASF J. E. Wala, highlighted that the inspection crew will henceforth conduct regular visits to assess buildings, record significant findings, and provide action plans to premises owners based on identified fire hazards. He emphasized that these measures are designed to enhance public and property safety.
Responding, the company representative, Mr. James Shashom, described the visit as timely and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to prioritizing safety. He also pledged to partner with the Federal Fire Service to fully implement the inspection recommendations.
