WASA Is A Forum For Barrack Community To Showcase Their Rich And Diverse Culture -- Gen Umar

The Deputy Director, Department of Civil Military Cooperation Army. Major General Aminu Mohammad Umar said WASA is a forum for social interaction for Barrack communities to showcase their rich and diverse culture.

Gen. Umar who stated this as the Special Guest of Honour at 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) Organised by the  Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Nigerian Army School of Legal Services and 11 FER held at Basawa Barack, Zaria.

The Special Guest of Honour  said, he was convinced that the gathering has been worthwhile and the aim of WASA  which amongst other reason is to promote cultural harmony, team spirit and tolerance among Military personnel has been achieved.

He urged all officers and soldiers to remain proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Gen. Mohammed Umar also remind them of the need to maintain the core values of the Nigerian Army which includes Loyalty, self service, courage, discipline, integrity and respect for others at all times. 

As the training year commences, he charged them fo remain focus and highly resilient to all forms of distraction that are capable of affectingly their ability to discharge their duties professionally in line with global best practice.

The Special Guest of Honour expressed hi happiness  for the Nigerian Army School of Military Police, and Nigerian Army School of Legal Services and 11 PER for sustaining the age long Military tradition of holding WASA annually after a successful training year.

According to him, the brilliant display by the various cultural troops that performed is very encouraging which shows that there is no broken links in our cultural background.  

Earlier in his welcome address the Commandant Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Brigadier General Onalo Yakubu said WASA has transformed over the years and now entails the analysis and review of the concluded year as well as making projections for the new calendar year. 

He enumerated some of the achievements of Nigerian Army School Military Police, Nigerian Army School Legal Services School and 11 FER as well the Training 2025. 

 "We are immensely grateful to the COAS for providing the enabling environment and resources that contributed to the successes so far".

"Our goals for the year is hinged on developing our expertise and enhancing the corporate image of these great institutions".

"As we celebrate, let us remember the importance of our cultural heritage and the values that make us strong". 

"Let us honour the sacrifices of our fallen heroes who have defended our nation's unity and sovereignty".
