Shi'a Group Rasulul-A'azam Foundation Demands Inclusion in Kano's Shura Committee

Amid the ongoing controversy in Kano State regarding the alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Shi’a group, Rasulul-A’azam Foundation, Kano State branch, has called on the Kano State Government to include its representatives in the Shura Committee currently investigating the debate involving Malam Lawal Triuyom.
The head of the group’s da’awah (religious outreach) department, Sheikh Lawal Bashir, led a delegation to the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Faruq Ibrahim, to submit their complaint and request.
Sheikh Lawal stated that, as law-abiding citizens and a duly registered organization, the government should grant them the opportunity to participate in governance and legal affairs — particularly at times when unity and peace are most needed in society.
He expressed concern over how representation in the Shura Committee has been limited to groups such as Izala and the Tijjaniyya Sufi Order, stating:
"We should be included in government affairs too because we are also influential citizens and Muslims who have a role together play.”
The cleric also emphasized that their group played a significant role in the success of the current administration, and as such, it is not appropriate to sideline them during such a critical and sensitive period.
He warned the Kano State Government against repeating the mistakes of the previous administration, which, according to him, led to some of the current issues of disrespect toward the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He concluded by expressing hope that justice would prevail in the matter, stressing that justice is what brings peace to a nation.
Finally, Sheikh Bashir stated that the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Faruq Ibrahim, received their complaint and assured them that the matter would be reviewed with the intention of taking appropriate action, God willing.
