Bandits Kill Commander of Local Hunters in Gangara, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State

Today, Saturday, October 4, 2025, the death of one of the commanders of the national hunters' association, the United Hunters Society of Nigeria, in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been confirmed. The commander, Malam Kabiru Gangara, was killed by bandits during a rescue operation of kidnapped victims.
The National Commander of the association, Usman Taju, confirmed the incident during a press briefing shortly after the funeral prayer of the deceased.
Commander Taju explained that on the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025, they received a report that bandits had kidnapped several people — both men and women — from the Danja area of Katsina State and brought them into Giwa Local Government Area.
"As a result, we alerted all our operatives to take immediate action to rescue the victims," he said.
During the rescue mission, three women were successfully freed from the bandits, although the operation led to the death of one of the association’s members, Malam Kabiru Gangara.
The commander expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Malam Kabiru, describing him as a martyr who died in active service while trying to protect the lives of others.
He also called on the Kaduna State Government to intensify support by providing equipment and training so they can continue to tackle security challenges in the area.
"Indeed, we are facing numerous challenges, but that will not stop us from protecting the people," he added.
Finally, Commander Taju urged the government to look after the families of operatives who die in the line of duty, stating that such support would boost the morale of other members to continue their dedication to duty.
Investigations revealed that the late Malam Kabiru left behind three wives, six children, and many relatives.
